Jen Fellman grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was here that she developed a love for theatre and performing. Jen has been singing ever since she can remember, however, it was a love of sports that dominated most of her childhood. Throughout high school Jen began to pursue theatre more seriously. It wasn't long before playing varsity basketball gave way to playing Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls. Jen then went on to Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. There she studied theatre, music and French. In May 2008, she graduated 4th in her class with a Bachelor's of Arts degree and received Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa Honors. It was at Muhlenberg that Jen first fell in love with the art of clowning and solo performance art. In the Spring of 2007, Jen traveled abroad to study in Rennes, France. There she pursued her interests in language and clowning, and began writing her own one-woman show entitled, A Singer's Circus. Before leaving Rennes, she performed this show at l'Institut Franco-Americain. In September 2008, Jen participated in the Philadelphia Fringe Festival in the show 4X4: Crumbled Worlds at Plays and Players Theatre. Since then Jen has worked at the Walnut St. Theatre Summer Camp creating theatre with children, and recently taught a clown workshop at the Walnut, and an acting workshop at the University of the Arts. She currently works for Family Stages, a touring children's theatre company where she performs in many shows including Peter Pan (Peter) and The Wizard of Oz (Dorothy). Jen has also done work for 1812 Productions and was recently awarded a grant for her one-woman show from the Jilline Ringle Solo Performance Program as administered by 1812 Productions. Today Jen continues to pursue theatre and singing in Philadelphia. Her most recent achievement will be performing A Singer's Circus at the Walnut Street Theatre Studio 5 as part of the 2009 Philadelphia Fringe Festival. While Jen loves Philadelphia and the theatre community here, she eventually hopes to return to France with her show and complete additional studies in Paris. |
